Request for confirmation of ACC Read Code/s that specifically apply to a claimants injury to their right sciatic nerve in the hip/thigh region.
David Lawson made this Official Information request to Accident Compensation Corporation
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Accident Compensation Corporation should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: David Lawson
Dear Accident Compensation Corporation,
I refer you to the ICD-10 Diagnostic Codes:
S74.01XA Injury of sciatic nerve at hip and thigh level, right leg, initial encounter, and
S74.01XD Injury of sciatic nerve at hip and thigh level, right leg, subsequent encounter
S74.01XS Injury of sciatic nerve at hip and thigh level, right leg, sequela
OIA Request:
I respectfully request your assistance in confirming the corresponding equivalent Diagnostic Read Codes that apply to the above named ICD-10 Diagnostic Codes.
I note that Government Services recently confirmed (https://fyi.org.nz/request/6269/response...) that ACC have an ACC Read Code F350 which covers Sciatic Nerve Lesion, however I am interested to know whether ACC have a more specific ACC Read Code that narrows the sciatic nerve lesion down to the right hip and thigh region as per the S74.01 range of ICD-10 Diagnostic Codes does.
I appreciate your time and assistance and respectfully request that my request be responded to under urgency within the next 10 working days, being by the end of business close on 15th August 2017, with my reason being so that I can formally lodge pursuant to Section 48 (a), (b) and (c ) of the ACC Act 2001 claims for cover and entitlements for a number of classes of injuries sustained, and so as allow me to access the correct assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for these injuries.
Yours faithfully,
David Lawson

Accident Compensation Corporation
Dear Mr Lawson
Thank you for your email dated 3 August 2017, copied below, requesting
further information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
ACC is working on your request and will be in touch with you as soon as
possible, and certainly by 31 August.
We have noted your request for receipt of the information by 15 August. If
we are able to accommodate that time frame, we will.
While the Act allows a requester to ask for a request to be processed
urgently (where they specify the reason for this), agencies are not bound
by such a request. Whether a response can be provided under urgency will
depend on various factors, including the complexity of the request, the
time required to form a response, and the workload of the agency.
If you have any questions in the meantime, we will be happy to work with
you to resolve these. We can be contacted via email at:
[1][email address].
Yours sincerely
