Revocation of firearms licence performance measures

Malcolm Lock made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police

The request was partially successful.

From: Malcolm Lock

Dear New Zealand Police,

In the NZ police annual report 2016-2017 http://www.police.govt.nz/sites/default/...

On page 47 it states a performance standard of 400 to 600 firearm licence revocations for the 2016\17 year.

How did the New Zealand police establish this figure of 400 to 600 firearm licence revocations for the 2016\17 year.

Why is 400 to 600 firearm licence revocations a performance standard?

As performance measure, does this mean police are actively seeking revocations of firearms licences to meet the performance standard?

Yours faithfully,

Malcolm Lock

Dear TALAGI, Salote,

I already have several well overdue requests yet to be completed by the NZ Police and have laid complaints with the Ombudsman office.

One more to the list is not an issue.

When is this request going to be processed, as usual I'll expect an request for extension for time from the NZ police tomorrow morning, but this does not excuse how the NZ Police are dealing with requests.

Yours sincerely,

Malcolm Lock
