MBIE Compliance with Record Keeping surrounding EAG communication and the MBIE Guidance
Jake Preston made this Official Information request to Archives New Zealand Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga
The request was refused by Archives New Zealand Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga.
From: Jake Preston
Dear Archives New Zealand Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga,
Given that I have been trying to identify some key decisions surrounding the development of the MBIE Guidance documents, which were initially scoped by members of the Engineering Advisory Group whilst under direction of EQC, and many OIA requests are being denied due to the use of private email addresses by EAG members including George Hooper, and searches of MBIE Document Management Systems are failing to find the requested documents, I am concerned that MBIE may not be complying with their obligations in terms of keeping records for the archives.
Can you confirm that MBIE is complying fully with the Public Records Act 2005, and that all records, including all communication surrounding the MBIE Guidance have been retained? Can you confirm that this includes the use of private email addresses used when being paid under the direction of EQC, which would have been transferred to MBIE under the formal transfer of EAG work to MBIE in November 2010?
Yours faithfully,
Jake Preston
