Dear Auckland Council,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Auckland Council's handling of my FOI request 'requiest a copy of the job description for general Counsel for council'.
I have received a response which states that my request for job description and reporting line for Wendy Brandon, General Counsels is declined under sections 7(f)(ii) and 17(h) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA).
How can there be open and transparent governance if we cannot hold those who withhold information and refuse to investigate accountable?
Ms Brandon is a public employee and her job description is a matter of public record.
I have been told to direct my requests to the Ombudsmen who are already over loaded and that request would take 2 1/2 years to be addressed like it did last time I took a matter there.
I have asked Ms Brandon to look at an agreement which a council manager had with himself for the supply of council resources and staff. a matter of gross corruption which she is condoning through her lack of action.
Section 14 of the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990 gives us freedom of expression. What I have said is true and Ms Brandon has not advised me that she considers it defamatory. If Ms Brandon takes exception to anything published she has the right to ask for a correction the fact that she has not done so proves that what I have written is true and accurate.
We have the right to know that Ms Brandon is acting according to her job description and have the right to know who she reports to she is a public employee we pay her wages.
