Please supply the following information under the [Official Information Act (OIA) / Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act (LGOIMA)]:
1. Does the organisation carry out drugs and alcohol testing (among employees or other persons)?
2. If drug and alcohol testing does take place at the organisation:
a. Who currently provides the testing service i.e., name of service provider(s)?
b. For each (named) service provider:
i. What is the nature of the drug & alcohol testing service delivered e.g., saliva, urine, breath and alcohol and synthetic cannabinoids?
ii. In what geographic location(s) is the service delivered?
iii. Is the service provided under contract? If yes:
1. How many contracts does the provider have with your organisation?
2. What is the term of that/those contract(s)?
3. What is the dollar value of that/those contract(s)?
4. Are there options for renewing that/those contract(s)?
c. What organisation(s)/company(ies) previously conducted drug and alcohol testing for your organisation (repeat all of ‘b’ for previous service providers)?

Thank you for your request regarding drug and alcohol testing at South
Taranaki District Council, which we received on 6th May 2021.
We are pleased to provide the following information in response to your
request.
Original request (with red highlighting our response to each question
below):
1. Does the organisation carry out drugs and alcohol testing (among
employees or other persons)?
Yes, drug and alcohol testing is part of our pre-employment screening
process for all new employees.
2. If drug and alcohol testing does take place at the organisation:
a. Who currently provides the testing service i.e., name of service
provider(s)?
TDDA (The Drug Detection Agency) provide this service.
b. For each (named) service provider:
i. What is the nature of the drug & alcohol testing service delivered
e.g., saliva, urine, breath and alcohol and synthetic cannabinoids?
Urine sample checking for alcohol and drugs including synthetics.
ii. In what geographic location(s) is the service delivered?
This is a mobile service that covers the South Taranaki district, so
testing can be carried out anywhere.
iii. Is the service provided under contract?
Yes.
If yes:
1. How many contracts does the provider have with your organisation?
One.
2. What is the term of that/those contract(s)?
2 years.
3. What is the dollar value of that/those contract(s)?
From 23 Dec 2015 – 30 April 2021 total $40,389.20 (this include training
courses and testing requirements).
4. Are there options for renewing that/those contract(s)?
Yes.
c. What organisation(s)/company(ies) previously conducted drug and alcohol
testing for your organisation (repeat all of ‘b’ for previous service
providers)?
We have used TDDA since 2006.
