Dear Fire and Emergency New Zealand,
Do you currently have fire appliances that would be able to respond to a fire involving an EV vehicle in a carpark with a low roof clearance such as 2.0m?
For example the Britomart carpark in Auckland has EV chargers and a clearance of 2.1m and the Victoria Street carpark also has chargers and a clearance of 2.0m
Yours faithfully,
Rhys Lewis

Thank you for your request for information. You asked:
Do you currently have fire appliances that would be able to respond to a
fire involving an EV vehicle in a carpark with a low roof clearance such
as 2.0m?
For example the Britomart carpark in Auckland has EV chargers and a
clearance of 2.1m and the Victoria Street carpark also has chargers and a
clearance of 2.0m
Fire and Emergency are called to both the named carparks for various
reasons. The same type of appliance that would respond to any fire in such
a building would also respond to an EV fire. The challenges of a low roof
clearance would be identical. The Building Code requires buildings to have
access to the means to deliver water for firefighting to all parts of the
building.
We hope this assists
