Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment
Dear Immigration Lawyers New Zealand
Thank you for request of 15 February 2024 to the Ministry of Business,
Innovation and Employment (MBIE) requesting, under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following:
- Latest organisation chart for Immigration New Zealand in Christchurch
- Job description and requirements for each job position at Immigration
New Zealand in Christchurch
- Training programme and material for each job position at Immigration New
Zealand in Christchurch
- Key performance indicators for each job position at Immigration New
Zealand in Christchurch
- Pay range for each job position at Immigration New Zealand in
Christchurch
- Staff turnover rate for each job position at Immigration New Zealand in
Christchurch for the last five years
We have completed a preliminary assessment of your request. Before we
proceed with your request, could you please provide clarification on “each
job position at Immigration New Zealand in Christchurch”. A number of
roles and teams across the Immigration system are based in our
Christchurch office, can you confirm if this request could be refined to:
o Visa processing staff only, or
o Information on a team which completes a specific function (e.g. a
specific visa product), or
o All Christchurch based roles.
Additionally, your request for training programme and material for each
job position is for a large amount of information. Due to the amount of
material encompassed, this part of your request is likely to refused in
reliance on section 18(f) of the Act as it would require substantial
collation.
This decision has not yet been made, and we would like to consult with you
about narrowing the scope of your request before doing so. Is there
training material for a specific role or team, or a specific visa product
that you have in mind, or is there a situation that you are trying to
better understand?
If you can narrow the scope of the information you require, it is more
likely that the Ministry will decide to grant your request and be able to
provide you with the information you require.
Can you please respond by COP 28 February 2024 and confirm on the above
points. If we do not receive a response by this date, we will proceed
without rescoping.
If your request is rescoped it will still encompass a large amount of
information. While we have not made a decision at this stage, we are
likely to need to extend your request for collation and for consultation
with third parties.
Thanks
Vicki
